On the underground/emerging artist side of things, the iTunes Festival at SXSW is happening March 11-15 and featuring two of my favorite rookie artists: Isaiah Rashad and Mickey Guyton. Tennessee hip hop star Rashad and country's new girl Guyton, a Texas native, will be featured alongside prominent artists Schoolboy Q, Kendrick Lamar, Imagine Dragons, ZEDD, Keith Urban, Willie Nelson and Coldplay.
Both are featured on this week's playlist: Rashad with "West Savannah (feat. SZA)" and Guyton with "Forever Love." In terms of "buzzworthiness," Rashad is a little further along in the game, with 51.K followers on Twitter, 75,978 SoundCloud listeners and 16,515 FB likes. Just to overuse the volcano metaphor, he's about to blow. But Guyton's definitely got star power. I'm not even a huge country fan and I hear a successful future in her voice. Listen to "Forever Love" for 10 seconds and you'll see what I mean.
